Harpy Happening

"There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before." ~ Robert Lynd

My mother-in-law, Donna Young, owns a resort in Belize, Jaguar Paw Jungle Resort.

The resort is awesome. Beautiful and fun. There's so much to see and do.

So yes, Donna's ability to create and run the resort is pretty amazing. But she's also a lover of animals, and if you go to Jaguar Paw, you'll see butterflies and kinkajous and coatis and monkeys, all manner of birds, and even the resort's resident canine escorts.

Something exciting will be happening at Jaguar Paw on October 18. The resort is throwing a party in conjunction with The Belize Zoo to celebrate the upcoming release of "Hope" the Harpy Eagle.

The Harpy Eagle is the largest eagle in the Americas, standing ~ 2 - 3.5 feet with a 6 -7 foot wingspan. They range from Southern Mexico to South America, and they're threatened because of habitat loss. The Belize Zoo is working on a restoration program for the Harpy.

If you happen to be in Belize on October 18, stop by Jaguar Paw at 6 p.m. to celebrate the Harpy Eagle!
