Tachycineta bicolor: Tree Swallow

When I was in college, I used to walk across an empty field to get from my apartment to campus. In the spring as I walked the swallows would fly a wide circle around me. I felt at the time as though I was being accompanied by something magic.

I've since learned that my walking drummed up worms and bugs that the swallows like to eat.

Oh well, it still seems kind of like magic.
