Agelaius phoeniceus: Red-winged Blackbird

Red-winged blackbirds hang out at the pond in the spring and summer. I usually see them in the reeds by the water. So far this year I've seen one female in the reeds (more drab than the male of the species pictured here), but I've heard many more.

Another sign that spring is on the way!

Doodled from a photo posted with the Wikipedia article for the Red-winged Blackbird.
