Larus delawarensis: Ring-billed Gull

The Ring-billed Gull is very, very common in this neck of the woods. They hang out by the river, at the pond, in parking lots... pretty much everywhere.

I used to think that gulls were seabirds, so it was surprising to see so many here in the Inland Northwest.

A couple of other surprises:

  1. They're not at all put of by people. They'll sidle up next to you and look at you expectantly. "Yo, you got anything to eat?"

  2. They have tiny feet.
