Ardea herodias: Great Blue Heron
Herons never cease to amaze me. They're strikingly beautiful despite being a tall, lanky bird. They seem generally unconcerned that they're the center of attention wherever they allow themselves to be seen. Despite being wading birds, they can (and do) perch in trees.
I saw my first heron of the year yesterday, at the pond, in the tall grasses. Yay!
