Athene cunicularia: Burrowing Owl

The Wikipedia article for the Burrowing Owl says the owl "... is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America."

My field guide says "Note long legs."

The burrowing owl lives, you guessed it, in burrows. It's active during the day, and yes, it has long legs.

This doodle is based on a photo of Beaker, an ambassador for the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC.
