I was flipping through a great picture book yesterday, Eyewitness: Eagles and Birds of Prey, and saw a wonderful photo of a juvenile barn owl. I had to try to draw it:
Owls are fantastic, with their facial disks, their not-exactly aligned ears and their silent flight. The Barn Owl is, according to Wikipedia, "the most widely distributed species of owl, and one of the most widespread of all birds." They live on every continent except antarctica.
The barn owl does not hoot. Instead it shrieks... Hmm... kind of like another bird I know...
